New Children’s Vocabulary From Pensive Penelope Thinks About Words
Penelope’s story is the story of finding her voice, learning to speak up and say all the words she needs in order to communicate. And to communicate, she needs to develop language skills! She needs to learn new vocabulary words!
Teaching Your Children New Vocabulary Words
Public education used to be a lot easier, I think, than it is now. These days, it’s not easy at all, and sometimes it’s even non-existent! Weather, illness, teachers’ strikes…we are in a perfect storm and education is no longer always the old, easy answer, “Yes, of course you’ve got school tomorrow!”
Whether you have responded to all this uncertainty by intentionally and consciously choosing to homeschool or whether you suddenly found yourself helping your child with remote, virtual learning, or even whether everything is back to normal but you want a little extra time and space for yourself and your child, challenging activities built around a favorite book might be just the thing for you and yours! And teachers? Please help yourselves and take a moment off for yourselves!
I’ve uploaded a new Pensive Penelope worksheet for you! Click here to download
It focuses on new vocabulary words, of course!
Spelling and definitions, using new words in sentences and stories, relating new words to your own life are the focus of the worksheet and any child can benefit from these classic educational tools. Your readers/writers may be able to do this vocabulary activity sheet all by themselves. Your younger learners can do this activity sheet with your help, using their oral skills to Ponder or Notice or think seriously about some great new words!
And of course this format works for ANY new word! Feel free to substitute other new words your child is interested in and keep using the worksheet over and over. It’s my gift to you!
Happy teaching, happy learning! Happy writing, happy creating!
